Malignant cells generally showed moderate cytoplasmic staining often combined with membranous positivity. Colorectal carcinomas displayed strong staining in most cases. Hepatocellular carcinomas as well as several malignant gliomas, renal and pancreatic cancers were weakly stained or negative.
A majority of malignant cells displayed moderate to strong membranous and cytoplasmic positivity. High grade malignant gliomas exhibited weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining while low-grade tumors were negative. Hodgkin's lymphomas, hepatocellular carcinomas and most renal cancers were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
IQGAP1 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
HUMORFA01, KIAA0051, p195, SAR1
Description
IQ motif containing GTPase activating protein 1 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the IQGAP family. The protein contains four IQ domains, one calponin homology domain, one Ras-GAP domain and one WW domain. It interacts with components of the cytoskeleton, with cell adhesion molecules, and with several signaling molecules to regulate cell morphology and motility. Expression of the protein is upregulated by gene amplification in two gastric cancer cell lines. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
