Several cases of melanoma and hepatocellular carcinoma, a few pancreatic cancers along with a rare carcinoid and urothelial cancer showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic and nuclear positivity. Remaining tumour tissues were negative.
Moderate cytoplasmic and nuclear staining was observed in hepatocellular carcinomas, several melanomas along with a few carcinoids and lung cancers. All other cancers were in general negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
GSTO1 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
GSTTLp28, P28
Description
Glutathione S-transferase omega 1 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene is an omega class glutathione S-transferase (GST) with glutathione-dependent thiol transferase and dehydroascorbate reductase activities. GSTs are involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics and carcinogens. The encoded protein acts as a homodimer and is found in the cytoplasm. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2010]
