Most cancers showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Colorectal, thyroid, pancreatic, lung, gastric and endometrial cancers displayed strong staining in a few cases.
Cases of colorectal, hepatocellular and endometrial cancers showed strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Cancer cells in general were moderately positive. Testicular, skin and urothelial cancers were weakly stained or negative in most cases. Most gliomas and lymphomas were negative.
Moderate cytoplasmic positivity was observed in most cancer cells. A few cases of melanomas, colorectal, ovarian and liver cancers displayed strong positivity. Several cases of gliomas and lymphomas, cervical and testis cancers were weakly stained or negative.
Cancer tissues showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity with a granular pattern.
GENE INFORMATION

MACC1 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
7A5, SH3BP4L
Description
Metastasis associated in colon cancer 1 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
MACC1 is a key regulator of the hepatocyte growth factor (HGF; MIM 142409)-HGF receptor (HGFR, or MET; MIM 164860) pathway, which is involved in cellular growth, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, angiogenesis, cell motility, invasiveness, and metastasis. Expression of MACC1 in colon cancer (MIM 114500) specimens is an independent prognostic indicator for metastasis formation and metastasis-free survival (Stein et al., 2009 [PubMed 19098908]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2009]
