Several cases of glioma, colorectal, endometrial, pancreatic cancers, few ovarian, lung, skin, testis and urothelial cancers showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic and/or nuclear positivity. Remaining cancers tissues were negative.
Cancer cells were in general negative. Several cases of endometrial, cervical and colorectal cancers exhibited moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity.
Most cancers exhibited weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Cases of gliomas and endometrial cancers showed strong staining. A majority of lymphomas, melanomas, lung, skin and urothelial cancers were weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
RBP1 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
CRABP-I, CRBP, CRBP1, CRBPI, RBPC
Description
Retinol binding protein 1, cellular (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes the carrier protein involved in the transport of retinol (vitamin A alcohol) from the liver storage site to peripheral tissue. Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin necessary for growth, reproduction, differentiation of epithelial tissues, and vision. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2008]
