Most cases of skin, testicular, ovarian and breast cancers, a few cases of gliomas, melanomas, lymphomas, colorectal, urothelial and cervical cancers showed distinct nuclear immunoreactivity. A majority of the remaining cancers were weakly stained or negative.
Most cancers were weakly stained or negative. Colorectal cancers and several cases of gastric, testicular and breast cancers were moderately stained.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
ID3 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
bHLHb25, HEIR-1
Description
Inhibitor of DNA binding 3, dominant negative helix-loop-helix protein (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a helix-loop-helix (HLH) protein that can form heterodimers with other HLH proteins. However, the encoded protein lacks a basic DNA-binding domain and therefore inhibits the DNA binding of any HLH protein with which it interacts. [provided by RefSeq, Aug 2011]
