Most cancer tissues showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic and membranous positivity. Several cases of colorectal and liver cancers were strongly stained. Lymphoma and renal cancers were generally negative.
Moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity was observed in a majority of cancer tissues. Several lymphomas, lung, breast, skin and urothelial cancers were weakly stained or negative.
Most cancer tissue showed moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. A few cases of pancreatic and hepatocellular carcinomas displayed strong staining. Several skin, renal and lung cancers were weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
ACADS (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
ACAD3, SCAD
Description
Acyl-CoA dehydrogenase, C-2 to C-3 short chain (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a tetrameric mitochondrial flavoprotein, which is a member of the acyl-CoA dehydrogenase family. This enzyme catalyzes the initial step of the mitochondrial fatty acid beta-oxidation pathway. Mutations in this gene have been associated with short-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (SCAD) deficiency. Alternative splicing results in two variants which encode different isoforms. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2014]
