Several cases of gliomas, breast, thyroid, ovarian and prostate cancers along with a few cases of testicular cancers displayed moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Few cases of colorectal cancers displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic and membranous staining. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
Several gliomas, breast and prostate cancers along with few colorectal ovarian, urothelial and renal cancers exhibited moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity, with a granular pattern. Remaining cancer tissues were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
PLA2G12B (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
PLA2G13
Description
Phospholipase A2, group XIIB (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
Phospholipase A2 (PLA2) enzymes catalyze hydrolysis of glycolipids to release free fatty acids and lysophospholipids. PLA2G12B belongs to the PLA2 family, but it is catalytically inactive due to an amino acid change in its active site and has altered phospholipid-binding properties (Rouault et al., 2003 [PubMed 14516201]).[supplied by OMIM, Mar 2008]
