Several gliomas along with a rare case of carcinoid and urothelial cancer displayed moderate cytoplasmic staining. Moderate nuclear positivity was observed in a rare case of renal cancer. Remaining cancer tissues were negative.
Most cases of gliomas displayed moderate to strong nuclear and cytoplasmic staining. Several cases of breast, prostate, thyroid, ovarian cancer and melanomas displayed weak to moderate nuclear and/or cytoplasmic staining. Additional membranous positivity was showed by few cases of adenocarcinoma of cervix, pancreas and kidney. Remaining cancer tissues were mostly negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
MAP1LC3B (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
ATG8F
Description
Microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 beta (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The product of this gene is a subunit of neuronal microtubule-associated MAP1A and MAP1B proteins, which are involved in microtubule assembly and important for neurogenesis. Studies on the rat homolog implicate a role for this gene in autophagy, a process that involves the bulk degradation of cytoplasmic component. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
