Several cases of melanomas, prostate, testicular and liver cancers along with few cases of ovarian, endometrial and lung cancers displayed moderate nuclear and/or cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining tumors were in general weakly stained or negative.
Cancer cells generally were negative or showed weak cytoplasmic staining that in some cases was combined with nuclear positivity.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
GABRA6
Synonyms
Description
Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) A receptor, alpha 6 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
GABA is the major inhibitory neurotransmitter in the mammalian brain where it acts at GABA-A receptors, which are ligand-gated chloride channels. Chloride conductance of these channels can be modulated by agents such as benzodiazepines that bind to the GABA-A receptor. At least 16 distinct subunits of GABA-A receptors have been identified.
