Breast cancers along with a few cases of renal and hepatocellular carcinomas displayed moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining cancer tissues were negative.
Cancer tissues displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Single case of urothelial cancer displayed additional membranous staining. Rarely breast, ovarian cancer and hepatocellular cancer were strongly stained. Most gliomas, lymphomas along with several skin, lung, cervical cancers, carcinoid and melanomas were in general negative. Hodgkin's lymphoma showed weak immunoreactivity.
Hepatocellular carcinomas and several cases of renal, urothelial and breast cancers showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Other cancer tissues were in general weakly stained or negative.

Description
Cytochrome b5 type A (microsomal) (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a membrane-bound cytochrome that reduces ferric hemoglobin (methemoglobin) to ferrous hemoglobin, which is required for stearyl-CoA-desaturase activity. Defects in this gene are a cause of type IV hereditary methemoglobinemia. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jun 2010]
