Most cancer tissues displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Several skin and thyroid cancers along with a few cases of lung and pancreatic cancers showed strong staining. Most cases of gliomas, lymphomas and testicular cancers were negative.
A few cases of squamous cell carcinomas, malignant gliomas, seminomas of testis and urothelial cancers showed weak to moderate nuclear staining. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
Cancer tissues were in general weakly stained or negative. Moderate nuclear membranous, nuclear or cytoplasmic immunoreactivity was observed in several cases of gliomas, urothelial, pancreatic and colorectal cancers.

Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a transmembrane protein that localizes to the inner nuclear membrane and forms a core component of the nuclear pore complex, which mediates transport to and from the nucleus. The encoded protein may anchor this complex to the nuclear envelope. There are multiple related genes and pseudogenes for this gene on chromosomes 5, 7, 15, and 22. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been observed. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2013]
