Few cases of duct carcinomas of breast, endometrial, ovarian, pancreas and renal cancers showed moderate cytoplasmic and nuclear staining while a single case of squamous cell carcinoma of lung showed strong positivity. Several cases of malignant gliomas displayed moderate cytoplasmic staining. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
Most cancer cells were weakly stained or negative. Several gliomas, endometrial and cases of squamous cell carcinomas displayed moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Cases of breast cancers and basal cell carcinomas showed distinct nuclear positivity.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name

Synonyms
CTRP5, DKFZp586B0621, LORD
Description
C1q and tumor necrosis factor related protein 5 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of a family of proteins that function as components of basement membranes and may play a role in cell adhesion. Mutations in this gene have been associated with late-onset retinal degeneration. The protein may be encoded by either a bicistronic transcript including sequence from the upstream membrane frizzled-related protein gene (MFRP), or by a monocistronic transcript expressed from an internal promoter.
