Staining of cell junctions in human cell line U-2 OS (HPA036538)
Scale bar represents 10µm
Cell junctions
Cell junctions occur between two cells or between a cell and the extracellular matrix. Depending on the cell type, they may have different functions: from transmission of stress to channel formation. Some cell junctions are critical for cell-to-cell communication as well as signal transduction.
Immunofluorescent staining
Staining of cell junctions can only be observed when the cells are in direct contact. The staining pattern is very specific and is only seen at the actual site of cell-cell connections.
