Cancer tissues displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity with occasional nuclear or membranous staining. A few basal cell carcinomas showed strong staining. Several melanomas and skin cancers were negative.
Moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity was observed in hepatocellular carcinomas, carcinoids, thyroid cancers and few adenocarcinomas of lung. Additional nuclear staining was displayed in few renal and urothelial cancers. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.

Description
Hydroxyacylglutathione hydrolase (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The enzyme encoded by this gene is classified as a thiolesterase and is responsible for the hydrolysis of S-lactoyl-glutathione to reduced glutathione and D-lactate. Three transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2013]
