A majority of malignant tissues displayed moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity with a granular pattern. Several endometrial, cervical and urothelial cancers were negative.
Malignant cells generally showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining. A majority of skin, testicular, lung and cervical cancers were weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
ACAT1 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
ACAT, THIL
Description
Acetyl-CoA acetyltransferase 1 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a mitochondrially localized enzyme that catalyzes the reversible formation of acetoacetyl-CoA from two molecules of acetyl-CoA. Defects in this gene are associated with 3-ketothiolase deficiency, an inborn error of isoleucine catabolism characterized by urinary excretion of 2-methyl-3-hydroxybutyric acid, 2-methylacetoacetic acid, tiglylglycine, and butanone.
