Most cancers showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Prostate cancers along with several duct carcinomas of breast and a few hepatocellular carcinomas were strongly stained. Lymphomas along with most gliomas, testicular cancers, squamous and basal cell carcinomas were negative.
Testicular cancers along with several cases of colorectal, prostate, cervical, pancreatic and renal cancers showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining with additional nuclear or membranous positivity in few cases. Other cancer tissues were in general weakly stained or negative.
Most cancer tissues showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Several cases of cervical, skin, testicular and urothelial cancers were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
ADCY2 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
AC2, HBAC2, KIAA1060
Description
Adenylate cyclase 2 (brain) (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the family of adenylate cyclases, which are membrane-associated enzymes that catalyze the formation of the secondary messenger cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). This enzyme is insensitive to Ca(2+)/calmodulin, and is stimulated by the G protein beta and gamma subunit complex. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
