Several breast, pancreatic, renal, testicular, thyroid and skin cancers showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity with additional/or nuclear/membranous staining in few cases. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
A single case each of pancreas and renal cancers displayed strong membranous and cytoplasmic staining. Renal cell carcinomas along with several pancreas, few stomach and liver cancers showed weak to moderate positivity. Other cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
Colorectal and liver cancers showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining while moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity was observed in a majority of renal cancers as well as several gastric, endometrial, testis and pancreatic cancers. Remaining cancer cells were weakly stained or negative.

Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the annexin family. Members of this calcium-dependent phospholipid-binding protein family play a role in the regulation of cellular growth and in signal transduction pathways. The specific function of this gene has not yet been determined; however, it is associated with the plasma membrane of undifferentiated, proliferating endothelial cells and differentiated villus enterocytes. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
