Moderate to strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity was observed in most malignant tissues. Several squamous and basal cell carcinomas along with malignant carcinoids, melanomas, gliomas and lymphomas were weakly stained or generally negative.
Most cancer tissues showed weak to moderate nuclear staining with occasional cytoplasmic positivity. A single case each of follicular adenoma carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck, adenocarcinoma of cervix and urothelial cancer showed strong positivity.
Malignant cells were in general weakly stained or negative. Thyroid, renal, testicular and few urothelial cancers displayed moderate positivity.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
ARHGAP22 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
RhoGAP2
Description
Rho GTPase activating protein 22 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the GTPase activating protein family which activates a GTPase belonging to the RAS superfamily of small GTP-binding proteins. The encoded protein is insulin-responsive, is dependent on the kinase Akt and requires the Akt-dependent 14-3-3 binding protein which binds sequentially to two serine residues. The result of these interactions is regulation of cell motility. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Dec 2011]
