Adenocarcinomas of lung showed strong cytoplasmic positivity with a granular pattern. A few malignant lymphomas displayed strong cytoplasmic and nuclear staining. Remaining cancer tissues were negative.
Several lung, pancreatic, stomach cancers along with few breast and occasional renal malignancies showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic and/or nuclear positivity. Other malignant tissues were in general weakly stained or negative.
Several cases of adenocarcinomas of lung and few cases of renal cancers displayed strong cytoplasmic immunoreactivity in granular pattern. Remaining malignant tissues were negative.
Most lung cancers and fractions of thyroid cancers showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity. Fractions of renal cancers showed weak to moderate staining. Cancers in general were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
NAPSA (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
KAP, Kdap, NAP1, NAPA
Description
Napsin A aspartic peptidase (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The activation peptides of aspartic proteinases plays role as inhibitors of the active site. These peptide segments, or pro-parts, are deemed important for correct folding, targeting, and control of the activation of aspartic proteinase zymogens. The pronapsin A gene is expressed predominantly in lung and kidney. Its translation product is predicted to be a fully functional, glycosylated aspartic proteinase precursor containing an RGD motif and an additional 18 residues at its C-terminus.
