A majority of cancer cells were negative or displayed weak cytoplasmic immunoreactivity. Some renal cancers and colorectal cancers showed moderate to strong staining.
Several cases of melanomas and lymphomas along with colorectal, ovarian, lung, urothelial and renal cancers showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining. Remaining cancer cells were generally negative.
Lymphomas showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining. Most malignant melanomas along with several cases of prostate, colorectal, renal and urothelial cancers displayed moderate to strong membranous and cytoplasmic staining. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
TNFRSF14 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
ATAR, CD270, HVEA, HVEM, LIGHTR, TR2
Description
Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily, member 14 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the TNF (tumor necrosis factor) receptor superfamily. The encoded protein functions in signal transduction pathways that activate inflammatory and inhibitory T-cell immune response. It binds herpes simplex virus (HSV) viral envelope glycoprotein D (gD), mediating its entry into cells. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2014]
