A single case of renal cancer along with a subset of tumor cells in few cases of urothelial cancers showed moderate cytoplasmic staining. Remaining cancer tissues were negative.
Few hepatocellular carcinomas along with rare cases of renal cell carcinoma and carcinoid showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Other cancer tissues were negative.
Few hepatocellular carcinomas along with rare cases of renal cell carcinoma and carcinoids showed strong cytoplasmic positivity. Other cancer tissues were negative.
The protein encoded by this gene is a bifunctional enzyme that channels 1-carbon units from formiminoglutamate, a metabolite of the histidine degradation pathway, to the folate pool. Mutations in this gene are associated with glutamate formiminotransferase deficiency. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene.[provided by RefSeq, Dec 2009]
