Most cancer cells showed distinct granular staining in the cytoplasm. A majority of lymphomas and renal cancers as well as several lung cancers were weakly stained or negative.
Most cancer tissues showed moderate to strong granular cytoplasmic positivity. Pancreatic, urothelial, stomach cancers, Melanomas and lymphomas displayed additional nuclear staining. Few testicular, renal, endometrial and lung cancers were negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
SUCLG1
Synonyms
Description
Succinate-CoA ligase, alpha subunit (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes the alpha subunit of the heterodimeric enzyme succinate coenzyme A ligase. This enzyme is targeted to the mitochondria and catalyzes the conversion of succinyl CoA and ADP or GDP to succinate and ATP or GTP. Mutations in this gene are the cause of the metabolic disorder fatal infantile lactic acidosis and mitochondrial DNA depletion. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2010]
