Weak to moderate cytoplasmic immunoreactivity was observed in most cancer tissues. Lymphomas, several squamous cell carcinomas and few renal cancers were negative.
A subset of tumor cells in few cases of endometrial cancers and papillary adenocarcionomas of thyroid showed moderate nuclear staining. Several cases of gliomas along with head and neck cancers displayed weak positivity. A single case each of seminoma and urothelial cancer exhibited strong immunoreactivity. Remaining cancer tissues were negative.

Description
X antigen family, member 5 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene is a member of the XAGE subfamily, which belongs to the GAGE family. The GAGE genes are expressed in a variety of tumors and in some fetal and reproductive tissues. The protein encoded by this gene shares a sequence similarity with other GAGE/PAGE proteins. Because of the expression pattern and the sequence similarity, this protein also belongs to a family of CT (cancer-testis) antigens. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
