Moderate to strong cytoplasmic and/or nuclear positivity was observed in most cancers. Several lung, skin and renal cancers were weakly stained or negative.
Most cancer cells showed weak to moderate nuclear and cytoplasmic positivity. Glioma, ovarian, endometrial, stomach and pancreatic cancers displayed cases with strong positivity. Melanoma, urothelial and renal cancers were negative in several cases.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
PPA1 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
IOPPP, PP, PP1, Ppase, SID6-8061
Description
Pyrophosphatase (inorganic) 1 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the inorganic pyrophosphatase (PPase) family. PPases catalyze the hydrolysis of pyrophosphate to inorganic phosphate, which is important for the phosphate metabolism of cells. Studies of a similar protein in bovine suggested a cytoplasmic localization of this enzyme. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
