General weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining in most cancer tissues. Strong staining in carcinoid. Hodgkin's lymphomas were negative, while the non-Hodgkin's lymphomas displayed a variable positivity.
Cancer tissues showed cytoplasmic staining of varying intensity. Strong cytoplasmic positivity was showed by thyroid cancer. Moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining was seen in melanoma, glioma, lymphoma and colorectal cancers. Carcinoid, skin and renal cancers were weak to negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
GRK6 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
GPRK6
Description
G protein-coupled receptor kinase 6 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a member of the guanine nucleotide-binding protein (G protein)-coupled receptor kinase subfamily of the Ser/Thr protein kinase family. The protein phosphorylates the activated forms of G protein-coupled receptors thus initiating their deactivation. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
