A majority of cancer cells displayed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity. Gliomas displayed strong staining. Colorectal cancers showed cytoplasmic and membranous staining. Most liver and renal cancers were negative.
Few cases of testis cancers showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic staining. Rare cases of duct carcinomas of breast displayed moderate positivity. A single case of hepatocellular carcinoma displayed moderate nuclear staining. Remaining cancer tissues were weakly stained or negative.
The protein encoded by this gene is an arginyl-tRNA synthetase that is found in the mitochondrial matrix. Defects in this gene are a cause of pontocerebellar hypoplasia type 6 (PCH6). [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008]
