Strong cytoplasmic positivity was found in urothelial cancers and hepatocellular carcinomas. Prostate cancers displayed moderate immunoreactivity. Most other tumors were negative or showed weak staining.
Several cases of ovarian, testicular, urothelial and renal cancers showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic positivity and additional nuclear staining in a few cases. A single case of hepatocellular carcinoma displayed strong cytoplasmic positivity. Remaining cancer tissues were mainly negative.
The majority of cancer tissues exhibited moderate to strong cytoplasmic positivity. Additional nuclear positivity was seen in endometrial, liver, lung, ovarian, renal, stomach, testis cancers and carcinoids. The gliomas, lymphomas, melanomas and skin cancers were weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
FBP1 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
FBP
Description
Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase 1 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
Fructose-1,6-bisphosphatase 1, a gluconeogenesis regulatory enzyme, catalyzes the hydrolysis of fructose 1,6-bisphosphate to fructose 6-phosphate and inorganic phosphate. Fructose-1,6-diphosphatase deficiency is associated with hypoglycemia and metabolic acidosis. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
