Hepatocellular carcinomas, renal and thyroid cancers along with a few cases of carcinoid, gliomas, ovarian, endometrial, lung, pancreatic and testicular cancers displayed moderate to strong membranous and/or cytoplasmic staining. Remaining cancer tissues were negative.
Cases of ovarian, lung, testis, renal, hepatocellular carcinomas and gliomas showed strong cytoplasmic and membranous positivity. Remaining cancer cells were negative.
A majority of liver cancers and several cases of ovarian and renal cancers displayed moderate cytoplasmic and membranous positivity. Remaining cancers generally were negative or weakly stained.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
CDH2 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
CD325, CDHN, NCAD
Description
Cadherin 2, type 1, N-cadherin (neuronal) (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a classical cadherin and member of the cadherin superfamily. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes a preproprotein is proteolytically processed to generate a calcium-dependent cell adhesion molecule and glycoprotein. This protein plays a role in the establishment of left-right asymmetry, development of the nervous system and the formation of cartilage and bone. [provided by RefSeq, Nov 2015]
