Majority cancer tissues showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic and occasional nuclear staining. Occasional cases of basal cell carcinomas of skin displayed strong positivity. Lymphomas, liver and stomach cancers were negative.
Most cancer tissues showed moderate to strong cytoplasmic and nuclear positivity. Pancreatic, testis and thyroid cancers were weakly stained or negative.
GENE INFORMATION
Gene name
PPME1 (HGNC Symbol)
Synonyms
PME-1
Description
Protein phosphatase methylesterase 1 (HGNC Symbol)
Entrez gene summary
This gene encodes a protein phosphatase methylesterase localized to the nucleus. The encoded protein acts on the protein phosphatase-2A catalytic subunit and supports the ERK pathway through dephosphorylation of regulatory proteins. It plays a role in malignant glioma progression. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants. [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2012]
